Praised by Opera News as “a marvel,” American Soprano Catherine Swindle is a promising singer known for her rich and colorful tone. Originally from Lubbock, Texas, her musical education began at age five with piano lessons, followed later by flute, harp, and singing. She received a B.M. in Vocal Performance and a B.A. in French from Texas Tech University, where she graduated summa cum laude with honors. She also studied Art History and Parisian History in Paris, France through a partnership between the TTU Honors College and the Université de Limoges. She then received a Master’s of Music in Classical Voice from Manhattan School of Music, where she was a President’s Award Scholar. Some favorite concert performances from her time in New York include Ottorino Respighi’s Il tramonto with the American String Quartet and Lee Mingwei’s Sonic Blossoms art installation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has received awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council, Denver Lyric Opera Guild, Partners for the Arts Inc., the Annapolis Opera Vocal Competition, the Altamura Caruso International Voice Competition, and Westminster Choir College's CoOPERAtive Program.

Currently, Catherine resides in Dallas, TX, where she is on contract with the Dallas Opera Chorus and the Highland Park Chorale. Catherine spent the 2020-2022 seasons as an Artist in Residence with Opera Colorado in Denver Colorado, and was recently a Studio Artist with Sarasota Opera in Sarasota, Florida. She was most recently seen on the stage of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House as Frasquita and Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen. Favorite opera credits include Micaëla and Frasquita in Carmen, La première sorcière in Bloch’s Macbeth, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Susanna in Wolf-Ferrari’s Il segreto di Susanna. She is on a constant quest for the best macaron. Catherine is very grateful to her family for their constant support, the wonderful music teachers she has had throughout the years, and God for giving her the opportunity to use her voice for singing.
